Your Pool Filter Pressure Gauge is Overworked and Underappreciated!

Your Pool Filter Pressure Gauge is
Overworked and Underappreciated!

filter pressure gaugeThe pool filter pressure gauge is probably the one piece of pool equipment no one ever thinks about, yet it is VERY important. It lets you know the pressure inside of your filter tank, which translates to how well the entire filter system is operating.

What is surprising, is that every pressure system runs at its own pressure setting for that particular system.  There are lots of variables such as length of pipe running the system, size and strength of filter, size and strength of pump and motor, etc.  However, once you know your system, then that is it.  It will remain consistent and you can count on it.

We are going to just list out the things to be concerned about today, and we will go into detail about them in following posts.

1.    Know your normal filter pressure guage reading and monitor it periodically.
2.    Pressure can be low – usually a flow blockage
3.    Pressure can be high – usually dirty filter
4.    Pressure gauge never changes – suspect it isn’t working
5.    Pressure gauge is stripped – probably was cross threaded
6.    Pressure gauge is leaking water – probably air relief bleeder poorly fitted
