Most Common Problems with Pool Heaters

Customer question: My pool heater is relatively new (2 years) and they tell me the heat ex changer is rusted out!    What is going on?

In general, there are a few things that can go wrong, and cause problems with your pool heater.

Not doing the monthly maintenance run.
This means running the heater 10-15 minutes a week.  Simply ask your weekly pool guy to deposit his car keys by the heater when he arrives and turn the heater on.  As he is ready to leave, he will have to collect his car keys and remember to turn off the heater, before he leaves.

Having chemicals tabs placed in the skimmer basket.
This is something some weekly pool guys like to do since the chemicals get into circulation in the pool faster.  However, this sends a shot of strong chemicals directly into the heat exchanger before they get to the pool, and it is extremely caustic and will rust the heat exchanger.

Not having visual and no control of your pool equipment.
This is where a Remote Control With The Smart Phone App comes in handy.
It allows You to visually view your property and know what is happening there.
It allows  YOU to remotely run the heater 10-15 minutes a week.
It also has other nice side benefits of allowing YOU to start your heater, and pump and motor a few hours before you get home so it is all warm and ready to go......nice!

We would have to take a look at it to tell for sure, and there is no charge to have us come out to let you know, if you are in the Palm Springs to Indio area.
